How did it take us this long?
There are 143,000,000 orphans in the world today. 143 MILLION! The number is so incredibly large that we just look at the number and skim past it without it really phasing us. But to put a little perspective to this… Let’s take all of the people that live in New York City (8,214,426), plus all the people in Los Angeles (3,849,368), then add the people in Chicago (2,873,326), and then add the people from the next 47 largest US Cities…. PLUS… the entire population of Ireland (4,109,086), as well as Nicaragua (5,603,000), and Norway (4,770,000), then all the people from Denmark (5,457,415), then Costa Rica (4,113,884), and the entire population of Greece (11,170,957), and then finally ad the 62,000,000 who live in France to equal the 143,000,000 orphans worldwide.
We cannot help all 143,000,000, but we can help one at a time. And that one is hugely significant.
But getting back to my original question… how did it take us this long? Stephanie and I have been christians for a long time and are just NOW really beginning to make the sacrifices to bring in kids into our family. Where is this teaching in the body of Christ? Maybe we were just in the wrong circles, and I know some are doing it, but largely the body of Christ is VERY Vocal on being “Pro-Life” but nearly silent when it comes to Adoption. People are wanting see an end to abortion, but aren’t even looking at one of the main solutions.
The Inconvenience of the Orphan
The main thing that I see as the roadblock to many taking the next steps to adopting is being the inconvenience that taking in kids would bring. Many are not quite at the point in life where they feel they are “well-off” enough to adopt. Or maybe they are older and their kids are grown, and starting all over seems too much. I am of the opinion that if you are a you should either be adopting, or walking along side those who are adopting. No kid should grow up without a family.
It’s not even well known that if you adopt locally, many times you can adopt at little or NO cost at all. I encourage you to call your local department of human services and find out about adopting through your state’s foster care system.

I was going to write an article about how to end abortion [period]. However, I found that to be a very broad topic that wouldn’t really be helpful on a practical side of things for an individual to walk out. However, one of the steps to ending abortion in your country is to end it in your state, and in your city. And if we can see abortions come to an end in cities all across America, then we can see abortion end in our country.
I would like to be able to tell you that you can end abortion with 3 easy steps and in no more than 30 days. Unfortunately that is not the case and it will not be easy. It will take time, prayer, diligence, prayer, action and more prayer.
Persistent Prayer:
Implement persistent prayer in a variety of forms in your city, such as: Night and Day Prayer (House of Prayer), Campus Prayer Groups, Home Prayer Groups, Solemn Assemblies (multi-church), Prayer Sieges in front of Abortion Clinics, Prayer Sieges in front of the Court House. Pray, pray and pray more, Luke 18 says that God will give speedy justice to those who cry out night and day. Also pray for revival. If God sends an awakening into your city it can be a catalyst to change governmental structures, organizations and/or businesses in your city.
Evangelism / Discipleship
I would venture to say that most women who get abortions or doctors who perform abortions are not Christians. However, there is also a small part of the Christian community who are pro-choice. Sharing the gospel and bringing people into the kingdom of God is an excellent way to end abortion one person at a time. Although you cannot stop at just sharing the gospel and checking off salvations. You must engage in one-on-one discipleship with those newly saved. Work with your local church or campus group for discipleship programs. Follow-up is essential to establish new believers in their faith.
Education / Awareness
Most of the women considering abortions know very little about the growth of the baby living inside of them. Holding rallies, info meetings, passing out literature, volunteering at crisis pregnancy centers, urging current politicians to pass laws requiring women to be made aware of their baby’s feelings of pain and the long term effects that having an abortion has on women.
Voting Pro-Life Leaders/Judges into Office (Who will Pass/Amend Laws)
We must have the abortion issue at the top of our list when deciding between candidates. We must be willing to sacrifice issues such as the economy, education, environment, and others so that the rights of the unborn are not violated. Be aware and educated on who you are voting for in an election and if that person will be voting in Judges and what kind of judges they will vote in. Passing laws to eliminate abortions must be a method we implement in ending abortion, but we must also get at the heart of the people.
Adoption / Adoption Support
Another way we can begin the ending of abortion in a city is being the answer and being a family that will adopt kids. As Christians I believe ALL are called to “care for orphans… in their distress” (James 1:27). This may not mean you will adopt, or even adopt right away, but some will. Others can form a group in your church community that can provide hours of support per week to make adoption doable for families in your community.
We must do all of the above and do it consistently and urge others to do the same. Let us not be too afraid of encroaching someone else’s “personal opinions” about this issue. Let us not be politically correct but let us stand up for truth no matter the cost. Let us come into agreement with the heart of God.

Matthew 5:8 – “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.”
Jesus was the ultimate peacemaker. Colossians 1:16b-17 says “All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” Then in verse 20 Paul goes on to say “and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.”
Defining a Peacemaker
A peacemaker is one who brings reconciliation to all things that are out of God’s will. This was the very reason God took on flesh and became a man. Jesus became the mediator in order to reconcile all things to Himself through the perfect blood of the cross. This is true peace.
What Peace Are We Asking For?
The “peace” in Col. 1:20 in the Greek (G1517) is different than the “peace” in Mt. 10:34 (G1515) where Jesus says “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.” The definition of the word “peace” (G1515) that Jesus did NOT come to bring was “a oneness, quietness, rest or prosperity.” Jesus came to make peace (G1517) – reconciliation of all things into God’s will. And this is what He is calling us to in the Sermon on the Mount… to be “PeaceMakers”. We should not be seekers of peace for the sake of peace. Non war time peace or prosperity peace or non-conflicts are not what we are to be seeking and pursuing, but a peace that is only found when things are reconciled to God by Jesus through the blood of the cross.
Apart from this reality, this peace… there can be no rest, quietness or oneness as long as things are not in alignment with the will of God. Every other sense of peace is a false peace and really no peace at all.
Can There Be Peace Without Reconciliation to God?
This has never been more a reality than when as a nation we voted in the most radical pro-abortion candidate in American history. Lou Engle brought a very alarming word to the Body of Christ Sunday when he said that many within the Church Leadership across America are calling for peace.
If by peace, they are calling for a radical pursuit of reconciling Barack Obama’s positions INTO the will of God; specifically on the issue of Abortion as well as every other position on issues he holds, then this is the peace we need. However, apart from this peace… there can be no peace. Unless this reconciliation happens and wrong things are made right, the next 4 years will be extremely terrible for human beings yet to be born and inside their mother’s womb.
Just as my friend Wes Martin said in his article on “Peace when there is no peace”, the Church Leadership of America MUST lead us the next 4 years in constant ‘Solemn Assemblies’ of prayer. When a moral crisis of this magnitude hits a nation this is the only Biblical Prescription.

What if today….
- 3,589 innocent adults in the U.S. were hung from the gallows on the steps of court houses?
What if this week….
- 25,123 innocent adults in the U.S. were systematically and legally murdered?
What if this month….
- 111,259 innocent adults in the U.S. were victims of genocide, and the government had given permission for this to take place?
What if this year….
- 1,310,000 innocent adults were executed without a trial, without their voice being heard?
What if this were actually true? And these were not adults but babies. And as a nation and a church we were unable or unwilling to stand against it? What would you do? Who would you appeal to? What would you expect from a Judge who had the power to do something about it?
This reminds me of the man who murdered both his parents. Then when his sentence was about to be pronounced, he pleaded for mercy on the grounds that he was an orphan.
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
“True peace is not merely the absence of tension: it is the presence of justice.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Peace without Justice is NO Peace At All.

When biblical immorality starts to turn into state or federal law, it is past time to get involved in politics. Thus, I am here to be a voice for the life of the unborn. My voice is here for any and all who will listen, and today’s revealing news is quite shocking.
For 4 years Senator Barack Obama has put forth efforts to cover up his full role in killing legislation to protect born-alive survivors of abortions. However after an interview with CBN where he said three times that National Right to Life was “lying” in asserting that he had voted against a state bill virtually identical to the federal Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, his campaign has admitted Obama “misstated his position.”
In an article on the New York Sun website on the evening of August 17th: “Mr. Obama appeared to misstate his position in the CBN interview on Saturday… [Obama's] campaign yesterday acknowledged that he had voted against an identical bill in the state senate…”
In the New York Sun article it also makes mention of a 5-minute video on YouTube (Caution: Video is hard to watch) that highlights Mr. Obama’s opposition to the legislation. This clip has been viewed more than 280,000 times and features a testimonial from Jill Stanek, a former nurse who spearheaded the push for the bill in Illinois after witnessing a live infant discarded and left to die at a hospital where she worked. In the Sun article it also mentions the McCain Campain’s criticism of Mr. Obama:
The McCain campaign yesterday added its voice to the criticism of Mr. Obama. “Americans can differ on the issue of abortion, but Senator Obama’s extreme record on this issue and his willingness to misrepresent that record should concern any American who believes that we should be working towards a society where there are fewer abortions, not more,” a spokesman for Senator McCain, Brian Rogers, said.
As controversial as this topic is this issue must have light shed on it. We must be informed on issues such as these, especially when someone’s life is at stake.

We all know the effects ending the life of an unwanted child has on the child. However, what effect does it have on the mother? The adverse effects an abortion had on anyone other than the child has often been debated and never stated with any scientific certainty. Yet on August 14th, 2008, that has all changed. The Supreme Court, the 8th Circuit, the British Royal Academy of Psychiatrists, 100 American Scientists, Medical and Mental Health Professionals and 3000 post-abortive women, and men agree that abortion can and does cause severe depression and loss of esteem.
Here is an excerpt of a media advisory released a few days ago:
Allan Parker, President of The Justice Foundation, announced today that 100 scientists, medical and mental health professionals, based on their training and experience, have released a joint statement today saying abortion hurts women. They agree with the following statements:
“As a scientist, medical or mental health professional, I agree with the following conclusions about abortion:
THE FACTS
- It is common for women to experience feelings of anger, fear, sadness, anxiety, grief, or guilt after abortion. The United States Supreme Court is correct that “some women come to regret their choice to abort the infant life they once created and sustained… Severe depression and loss of esteem can follow.”
- Women’s reaction to these feelings vary considerably with their emotional coping abilities and pre-existing functioning. It is undeniable that significant numbers of women are injured by abortion and should not be ignored by the medical profession and that significant numbers of women suffer serious physical, mental or psychological trauma as a result of abortion.
- The conclusion that there is a causal connection between abortion and negative problems is supported by three independent lines of evidence: (a) the self-attribution of women themselves, (b) mental health professionals who have successfully diagnosed and treated post-abortion reactions, and (c) statistically validated studies controlling for a large number of confounding factors which have been published in peer reviewed journals.
The Justice Foundation’s president, Allan Parker, also stated that the women of Operation Outcry, who have been personally hurt by abortion, also confirm that abortion hurts women. Women themselves offer the best evidence of how abortion affected them. The Justice Foundation has now collected over 3,000 testimonies from women and men hurt by abortion. It is the largest body in the world of legally admissible evidence on the harm of abortion.
