Life is a Vapor

I have been gripped with the reality of the coming kingdom lately. This life will soon be over and the choices I make today will greatly affect my life beyond these few minutes we are here on this side of eternity. If I waste a day I will never get that day back. If an hour goes by I didn’t use in an intentional way it is gone forever and nothing I can do can change that. I remind myself daily to be vigilant in how I use my time, being wise, redeeming the time as the scripture says “see then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15). Yet I know that even when I rest, that rest is not wasteful but purposeful as it refuels my body for other pursuits.

This life will come to an end very soon. In a matter of moments it will all be over for each one of us and though it seemed like it lasted forever, a lifetime comes and goes as a vapor. There is a time to be born and a time to die, and that death will be here to bring closure to a life. There will be no reruns, no do-overs and no chances to do things better a second time. Very soon we will either bite the dust or see our King returning in the sky and at that point we will receive our rewards and face our regrets.

Live without regret, redeem the time now before its too late.
