How to End Abortion in Your City

I was going to write an article about how to end abortion [period]. However, I found that to be a very broad topic that wouldn’t really be helpful on a practical side of things for an individual to walk out. However, one of the steps to ending abortion in your country is to end it in your state, and in your city. And if we can see abortions come to an end in cities all across America, then we can see abortion end in our country.

I would like to be able to tell you that you can end abortion with 3 easy steps and in no more than 30 days. Unfortunately that is not the case and it will not be easy. It will take time, prayer, diligence, prayer, action and more prayer.

Persistent Prayer:
Implement persistent prayer in a variety of forms in your city, such as: Night and Day Prayer (House of Prayer), Campus Prayer Groups, Home Prayer Groups, Solemn Assemblies (multi-church), Prayer Sieges in front of Abortion Clinics, Prayer Sieges in front of the Court House. Pray, pray and pray more, Luke 18 says that God will give speedy justice to those who cry out night and day. Also pray for revival. If God sends an awakening into your city it can be a catalyst to change governmental structures, organizations and/or businesses in your city.

Evangelism / Discipleship
I would venture to say that most women who get abortions or doctors who perform abortions are not Christians. However, there is also a small part of the Christian community who are pro-choice. Sharing the gospel and bringing people into the kingdom of God is an excellent way to end abortion one person at a time. Although you cannot stop at just sharing the gospel and checking off salvations. You must engage in one-on-one discipleship with those newly saved. Work with your local church or campus group for discipleship programs. Follow-up is essential to establish new believers in their faith.

Education / Awareness
Most of the women considering abortions know very little about the growth of the baby living inside of them. Holding rallies, info meetings, passing out literature, volunteering at crisis pregnancy centers, urging current politicians to pass laws requiring women to be made aware of their baby’s feelings of pain and the long term effects that having an abortion has on women.

Voting Pro-Life Leaders/Judges into Office (Who will Pass/Amend Laws)
We must have the abortion issue at the top of our list when deciding between candidates. We must be willing to sacrifice issues such as the economy, education, environment, and others so that the rights of the unborn are not violated. Be aware and educated on who you are voting for in an election and if that person will be voting in Judges and what kind of judges they will vote in. Passing laws to eliminate abortions must be a method we implement in ending abortion, but we must also get at the heart of the people.

Adoption / Adoption Support
Another way we can begin the ending of abortion in a city is being the answer and being a family that will adopt kids. As Christians I believe ALL are called to “care for orphans… in their distress” (James 1:27). This may not mean you will adopt, or even adopt right away, but some will. Others can form a group in your church community that can provide hours of support per week to make adoption doable for families in your community.

We must do all of the above and do it consistently and urge others to do the same. Let us not be too afraid of encroaching someone else’s “personal opinions” about this issue. Let us not be politically correct but let us stand up for truth no matter the cost. Let us come into agreement with the heart of God.
