21st Century Slavery

When I first read about the horrific and dehumanizing actions that were taken in this country toward the African American people, I said to myself (and I know I’m not alone with this) that if I was alive during this time I would have done something about it. I would have been apart of helping them to escape and going to the one who has the power to do something about it.

This past week the FBI along with local and state law enforcement agencies freed 46 girls and 1 boy from forced prostitution and arrested 73 pimps and 518 adult prostitutes. This operation involved 29 cities across America (http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/10/27/child.prostitutes.freed/index.html).

I believe that the prayers of those who were standing in the gap for human trafficking victims played a major role in the tips that came in and the busts that were made during this operation. A friend said recently and I agree, this is our very own slave trade era that we are experiencing personally within the boundaries of our own nation. We must go to the One who has the power to do something about this. God’s heart is breaking for these ones here in America and the many more around the world. Let us be people who hear what is on God’s heart and then partner with Him through prayer to see it changed.
