June Update

I thought it was about time for another post, being that we’re at the end of June and we’re about to embarq on a 40-day fast. I’m not sure what exactly that means for my blogging habits, but time will tell.

Since it has been a few more than a few days since the last post, I thought I would just give a little update:

  • We had our first of many Small Groups (E12s) today. We had a great time eating right before the fast and getting to know each other better. I really enjoyed talking about how studying the end-times has impacted our lives and can’t wait to get into the Psalms of Asaph next week.
  • I’ve been section leading in the GPR recently. It’s a bit different than the JPR in that its a little less hands on, until someone comes in doing something weird.
  • I’m looking forward to the Awakening Teen Camp leadership track. We will get to have hands on training of the teens. Can’t wait for that.
  • The next Intro to IHOP starts this week and the section leaders at the JPR will have a more involved role in teaching and training all things prayer room. Thats going to be fun. I’m very passionate about the model. I love the model. I am definitely a model advocate whether you have 3 people on a team or 10. Love it.
  • I lead a worship team in the JPR and we had our first singer practice last week. Things are getting moving.
  • Kansas City has the best storms. For real. The storm clouds here are absolutely amazing. The lightning is breathtaking and the view of the horizon is what makes it. I love finding a nice open place to sit and watch the storms. God’s creation is ridiculously outstanding.
  • We were blessed with a week’s stay in downtown Manhattan for $100 for our 9/10 year anniversary (going in December). So we just booked our tickets and are going to be traveling by train from KC to NY, we’re saving $200 by doing it that way, and we get to go on a train! We will also have 8 hour layovers in Chicago and Washington DC. We are excited.

Sounds like you and Steph have fully adjusted to you move to KC. I’m happy to hear all the great things God is doing in your lives.

Midwest storms are a sight to behold, but southern storms can be rather awe inspiring as well, especially when they arouse you from a deep sleep because the thunder is so loud it sounds like bombs going off and the lightning appears to be right outside your window.

While in Chicago try to see any of the museums. My personal favorite is The Museum of Science and Insdustry but maybe because I worked there for four years. But the Field Museum, The Shed Aquarium, and the Art Museum are just a worthwhile but the kids will probably like Science and Industry more. There is so much to do and they also have an Imax Theatre with some really amazing shows. All the museums have a free day, I use to know them all but a little search on line and you should be able to find that info before you go.
Too bad your going in winter there are a lot of cool outdoor things to do at the lake and around town in the summer.

When in DC, again I recommend the museums, and again I worked there. I would also recommend any of the monument tours if your into history, DC has a lot of it. Also try to get to Arlington if you can.

Never been to New York so can’t wait to hear all about it. One day I would like to go and spend a week or so there so take good notes.
